 Marketing and Communications Specialist (Full-time Term)

 

The Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation is seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist (Full-time Term) for a 16-week contract position starting in May 2022.

The Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation is an integral part of healthcare in Cape Breton, ensuring that critical equipment and services are available to patients in need on our Island. As a registered not-for-profit since 1985, the Foundation has worked in partnership with the community to raise more than $55 million to purchase priority equipment, fund facility upgrades, provide patient programming, and more.

The Foundation is currently undergoing its largest capital campaign to-date: The Cancer Care Here at Home Campaign, which aims to raise $10 million for cancer care in Cape Breton.

The Marketing and Communications Specialist will assist the Manager of Marketing and Communications with a range of projects and activities, including general communications and marketing support; preparing media releases; coordinating and creating daily social media content; assisting with event promotions; writing for web; developing content for print materials; administrative duties and other duties as required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with news releases and media advisories
  • Write patient and healthcare stories and publish to web, social media or prepare for print
  • Coordinate and schedule daily social media content and engage with the Foundation’s community of followers
  • Support event coordination and promotions, including signature events like Move Because You Care, Because You Care Cup and Radio Day
  • Develop content for print collateral such as the Because You Care Gift Catalogue and Third-Party Fundraiser Handbook
  • Assist with daily office duties, administrative support and other related tasks as required

Requirements

  • Enrolled in or graduated from a post-secondary program in a related field (business, marketing, public relations, etcetera)
  • Experience working in marketing, communications and social media considered an asset
  • Experience working in a not-for-profit setting considered an asset
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Team player, willing to learn and adapt
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
