What will your typical day look like?

As part of the Core Business Operations practice’s offerings, you will help optimize clients’ business operations and enable them take advantage of new technologies. You will be a part of engagement teams that drive product and service innovation, improve financial performance, accelerate speed to market, and operate client platforms to innovate continuously.

You will work on collaborative teams with responsibilities that range from analyzing client issues and interviewing key personnel to developing recommendations and authoring presentations. We offer both technical and strategy/advisory consulting roles within each offering, details of which are outlined below.

 About the team

Within the Core Business Operations practice there are four distinct offerings (Systems, Cloud Engineering, Industry Solutions & Operations Transformation), each with both technical and strategy/advisory focused-roles.

Our Operations Transformation group advises, shapes, and brings to life strategies and programs that enable

fundamental transformation to our clients’ business. Our work allows organizations to navigate, adapt, and transform in their dynamically evolving industries. We are the voice of the business on cross-functional Deloitte teams, working closely with our technology driven colleagues across Core Business Operations and beyond to drive meaningful impact for our clients. Our team is passionate about driving innovative solutions for our clients’ toughest problems. We are divided into four industry teams: Financial Services, Retail, Energy and Resources, and the Public Sector, and candidates are encouraged to specify an industry preference within their cover letter.

Our Industry Solutions group is focused on solving the most complex and massively impactful issues in hypergrowth industries by designing and deploying productized solutions at-scale. We advise and guide clients through transformations, from strategy to execution. Current focus industries are: Insurance, Digital Banking & Payments, Healthcare, Energy & Resources (Smart Operations), and Higher Education. You’ll be joining a team that comprises leading industry experts, strategists, and technologists. We’re passionate about our industries and are entrepreneurial and product-minded.

As part of the Industry Solutions Strategy arm, you’ll play a key role in advising our clients on their strategic priorities (as a domain-expert in our respective industries) to enable transformational change by leveraging methodologies, technologies, solutions, and products. You will also be playing a crucial product management role – to broaden our IS products by ideating, delivering, and operating against our backlog. Learn More

Enough about us, let’s talk about you

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary degree program and returning to school following completion of this co-op term, pursuing Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Business/Commerce, Economics, Finance, Political Science, or other relevant degree at either the undergraduate or graduate level.
  • Able to work within a wide range of industries performing research, data analysis and modelling to solve complex business problems.
  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous environment with competing deadlines and rapidly evolving client needs and conditions.
  • Able to communicate effectively (both written and verbal) with creative ability to conceptualize and articulate new approaches and solutions.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada and able to enter the USA to work on client assignments.
  • Experience with technical design and software development is considered an asset.

Ottawa Only: Employees in the Ottawa consulting practice will be required to obtain “reliability” and/or “Secret” level federal security clearances as a condition of their employment. To be eligible for a “Reliability” status you must have resided in Canada for the last five (5) years and for “Secret” level, the last ten (10) years.
