Cheer Nova Scotia (CNS) is a Provincial Sport Organization that is dedicated to promoting, developing and regulating both the participation and progression of cheerleading across Nova Scotia at the introductory, recreational, competitive and high performance levels. CNS is in the second year of our three year Strategic Plan.

This job is funded through the Student Summer Skills Incentive Program. Hourly wage is $15 part time, 35 hours per week, for 12 weeks, this may be negotiable based on funding. As such, all applicants must be returning to post-secondary education in the fall. A student in a Business or Commerce program with a specialization in Marketing would be considered an asset. The Marketing Coordinator will report directly to the President of the Board of Directors. The position is located in Lunenburg County though remote work is a possibility. Please indicate on your application if working remotely is preferred.

The Marketing Coordinator Student will be responsible for developing a marketing plan for CNS as well as various marketing and promotional materials. The student will ensure that methods are developed to evaluate the effectiveness of the campaigns.

In addition to these duties, the individual will help CNS build a relationship with the

Indigenous communities in the province in hopes of bringing cheer to more Nova Scotians.

Responsibilities:

  • Research successful marketing plans for the cheer industry
  • Conduct market research to identify marketing opportunities
  • Develop strategic marketing plan, including initiatives, activities and implementation plan that include print and online content
  • Create branded advertising content
  • Develop templates and content for Newsletters
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Develop templates, strategies, and systems for the ongoing maintenance and momentum of marketing plans and projects
  • Develop marketing for attracting members to the sport of cheer in general, in all areas of NS, that would benefit all programs (Cheer and Performance cheer in all star, scholastic, and collegiate) and disciplines
  • Simplify complex data into a user-friendly format such as graphs, charts and other visual aids for the Board
  • Reach out to Indigenous communities across the province to develop relationships and possible partnerships

Marketing Coordinator Requirements:

  • Working on a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Commerce with a specialization in Marketing or Communications would be considered an asset
  • Experience in developing marketing materials
  • Critical thinker with strong problem-solving and research proficiencies
  • Ability to gather large amounts of data and convert it into meaningful analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products such as MS Word, and Excel Spreadsheets
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Google (GSuite) products such as Google Drive, Google Documents, Google Spreadsheets, and Gmail.
  • For document management purposes, and in a remote work environment, it is imperative to adhere to document management and access protocols.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in software and business technology systems such as registration databases, spreadsheets, Zoom, etc.
  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset (English-French)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High level of integrity
  • Ability to work remotely and be responsible for deadlines in a fast-paced environment
