Job Description
What You’ll Be Doing As an Art Assistant Co-op, you will assist the CIBC Fine Art Department with the inventory and management of the corporate Fine Art Collection, including assisting with data entry, research and inventory documentation.This role requires you to be able to assist with handling, lifting and moving artwork safely; may require lifting with assistance up to 15-20 lbs. Some working areas may have fluctuating temperatures. Working in enclosed, basement spaces may be required.

How You’ll Succeed
- Support the Fine Art Department with the physical inventory of the Fine Art Collection, including photography, location tracking, condition reporting and other documentation
- Assist with data entry and cataloguing the Fine Art Collection
- Work independently and as part of a team to conduct research, create art descriptions and reports
- Provide assistance as needed with key art initiatives, on-site installs and art requests
Who You Are
- You are pursuing a degree/diploma in Visual Art, Art History, Collections Management, Museum studies or related discipline.
- You are digitally savvy. You have strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook). You are skilled in DSLR photography and digitization. Experience working with image editing in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator is an asset
- You are familiar with best practices of art handling and with standards of collection management. Knowledge and keen interest in Canadian art is an asset
- You possess strong written communication skills
- You have excellent organization and time-management skills
