ABOUT FES
Foundation for Environmental Stewardship (FES) is a youth-led, youth-serving sustainable development organization. FES is a Canadian not-for-profit corporation whose registered charity number is 801430307 RR0001. FES is an accredited organization by the United Nations who has a special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations. As the final generation that can solve climate change, FES empowers young Canadians to create a more inclusive, equitable, prosperous, and sustainable future. Our flagship program, 3% Project, concluded in 2020 and SDGs Youth Training Canada is one of our signature programs that was now transformed for virtual delivery as the SDGs Launch. This program has mobilized5,900+ students from over 80postsecondary institutions across North America.
Since 2020, FES has been working with Canadian philanthropic players to build a youth-for-youth funding platform to support the youth climate movement. This platform will act as a tool for the youth-led climate movement for financial support and technical assistance. This program is in its start-up phase and will be built over the year as it ramps up for delivery.
THE POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Foundation for Environmental Stewardship (FES) is seeking a partnerships Officer to play a supporting role in the development of FES’s youth-for-youth climate support program. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Partnerships Officer will primarily be responsible for developing and fostering relationships with the youth-led climate movement
Foundation for Environmental Stewardship (FES) 32 Britain Street, Suite 100, Toronto, ON M5A 1R6 Canada and with external organizations looking to support the youth-led climate movement. Mainly, the PartnershipsOfficerwill identify and reach out to youth leaders in the climate movement and consult with them to aid in designing programming and informing the work of the Program Director and Executive Director. The Partnerships Officer will manage relationships with service providers to create and develop capacity-building pathways for grantees. Finally, the Partnerships Officer will be the main communications contact and will ensure that all communications coming from FES are relayed in a timely manner to the public and key stakeholders.
Note, this position is dynamic and exciting –meaning that every day can look different.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Outreach: Reach out to youth-led climate organizations to support through FES and to other organizations that want to provide support to youth-led organizations.
  • Research: Identify and consult with youth-led climate organizations to identify the gaps in resourcing and liaise with partner organizations to conduct the needs assessment for the movement,
  • Communications: Ensure that FES communications are released in a timely manner and sent to the appropriate key stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage and nurture relationships as it pertains toFES’youthsupport program.
  • Program Development: Work with partners and other service providers to design, schedule, and market capacity-building opportunities for the youth-led climate movement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential Qualifications*:
  • Between the ages of 18 to 30 at the start of the job placement.
  • A Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or with Refugee status. Individuals on a work permit or visa are not eligible.
  • Relevant experience working with and/or for the climate movement in Canada.
  • *This position is made available pending funding from EcoCanada through SWPP. Applicants must meet these requirements, at minimum, to be eligible in the selection process.
Other Qualifications:
  • •Undergraduate and master’s students seeking a co-op position are eligible.
  • •Minimum 1 year of experience in sales and customer relations required (this can be satisfied through work, internship/co-op, volunteer, and extracurricular activities).
  • •Demonstrated experience in leadership roles or other positions with significant responsibility.
  • Demonstrated interest in relevant domains (ie. sustainability, environment, education, youth engagement and action) is considered an asset.
  • Proficient with using word-processing, database and spreadsheet software (most notably Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs and Excel).
  • Experience in report writing and research.
  • Experience with Salesforce is considered an asset.
  • Some weekend work required.

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills; able to easily engage in conversations with clients and stakeholders.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail; able to juggle multiple responsibilities while consistently delivering results.
