Inside Sales and Export Market Intern

Celebrating 60 years in business in 2023, Tony’s Meats Ltd. is a federally inspected, SQF certified, further meat processing facility located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia marketing under the Tony’s Meats and Mr. Donair brands. The company is seeking a recent business graduate with an export or international focus in their studies to fill the newly created position of Inside Sales and Export Market Intern. The successful candidate will execute tasks and activities targeted at supporting the launch of a digital online sales platform as well as the company expanding into a new international export market.

Term: April 24th, 2023 – April 24th, 2024 *(with potential for permanent employment)

Location: Antigonish, Nova Scotia

Hours: Monday to Friday (8:00 am -4:30 pm)

Wage: $19.25 /hr*

*This position is supported by the Export Internship for Trade Graduates program which provides a concrete link between recent graduates and Nova Scotian employer. (An EduNova / Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) led initiative. Applicants must meet the program requirement of having graduated from a Nova Scotia Educational institution within the last 18 months and have an international focus in their studies.

Reports to: General Manager

Duties/Tasks:

a. Learn the company’s inventory and accounting management software (Syspro)

b. Learn the company’s product line, order codes, pricing

c. Assist with setup of new ingredients, products and customers in Syspro

d. Assist with management and order fulfillment of online digital sales platforms

e. Assist Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and other administrative departments to perform filing and other organization and customer service related tasks as needed.

f. Assist the Supply Chain Manager to identify the most cost effective freight companies, lanes and third party storage facilities for different target areas in export markets.

g. Assist the International Business Development Manager and Operations Manager to research potential co-packing partners in other target export markets.

h. Provide support to the export sales team by assisting with customer account management and PO processing

i. Work with the purchasing team to verify accurate cost of ingredients and packaging and possibly research alternative suppliers

j. Assist the general manager and operations manager to develop and maintain updated costing sheets for both domestic and export products.

k.Work with company ownership to update and/or write the company’s export plans for target markets.

Qualifications:

•  Recent NS college or university graduate (within 18 months) with a Business Administration degree or diploma program or other relevant field of study with a major or focus on international or export business.
•  Strong working knowledge of computers, accounting software, spreadsheets
• Interest in finance, accounting and enterprise systems
• Experience working in Microsoft office – particularly Word & Excel
• Full keyboard typing skills (30+ words per minute considered an asset)
• Experience working in a role utilizing a digital inventory management system an asset
• Enjoys being part of a team
• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work calmly under stress
•  Ability to work quickly, efficiently and effectively
• Willingness to take on duties as assigned
