Northwood is currently accepting applications for a Research Nurse (RN/LPN)
Reporting to Principal Investigator (PI) and/or the Research Project Director, the Research Nurse is responsible for the coordination of research projects conducted at Northwood Halifax Campus. This coordination includes the administration of documents and data collected throughout the study period.
Responsibilities
Study/Clinical Trial Administration
Coordinates one or more studies/ clinical trials for the Research Project Director,
Educates and updates facility staff on study protocols
Recruits and screens study subjects
Acts as the initial point of contact for study subjects to answer questions or address problems and follows up as appropriate
Participates in various and meetings with either the PI or the Research Project Director,
Confers with the PI and sponsor representatives on study progress, compliance and interpretation
Prepares for and assists Monitors during visits by ensuring all required test results and documentation are available Assists in orienting new Research staff as required
Study Subject Care
Obtains medical and family history as it relates to the study
Assesses, counsels, educates and provides care to study subjects as per the protocol
Arranges for diagnostic/clinical tests, assessments and appointments for study subjects
Books clinic times with patients and assists in clinic as appropriate in relation to the study
Performs appropriate designated procedures, assessments and obtains necessary samples as per protocol
Reviews test results and reports significant findings to the PI
Administers questionnaires and tests as per the protocol
Advocates for and supports the study subjects’ rights and well being
Responds to study subject inquiries by phone and in person
Monitors study subject for Adverse Events and Serious Adverse Events
Reports Serious Adverse Events to REB and the sponsor as per the protocol
Data Management
Manages Case Report Forms and ensures their accuracy and completion prior to forwarding to the sponsor for verification of protocol compliance
Creates source documents
Maintains, stores and retrieves study documentation
Performs other related duties
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Registered Nurse-Province of Nova Scotia OR
Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training
Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the province of Nova Scotia
Minimum 2 years experience in nursing preferred with current knowledge and experience in long term care.
Experience coordinating studies/clinical trials and generating reports
CPR A certification is required
Strong clinical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated abilities in problem solving, decision making, group process, and directing and supervising others.
Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics.
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently
Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis according to the Northwood Corporate Standard.
Hours of Work: 40 hours bi-weekly
Salary: As per Northwood Scale
