As the Manager of Diversity and Inclusion with the Department of Natural Resources and Renewables, you will be accountable for the successful implementation of strategic initiatives that are focused on creating a more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

 

Primary Accountabilities

The Manager will support actions to transform NRR into a welcoming workplace with a workforce representative of the NS population at all levels of the organization:

  • Strategic planning including:
    • Assess the current state of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at NRR, including within all Branches and the Minister and Deputy Minister offices
    • Work with senior leadership, management, and staff to collaboratively frame and maintain a future state aligned with corporate strategies
    • Ensure resource, policy and program development reflects equity, diversity and inclusion strategic goals and objectives
    • Work with senior leadership, management, and staff to develop and action an implementation plan that includes ongoing activities, prioritized measures, and an evaluation framework
    • Ensure regular corporate progress reporting and evaluation within the department as part of Public Services Commission
  • Ensure NRR’s contracts for services, partnerships, stakeholder relations, and service delivery reflect the department’s commitments to equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Inspire and lead the cultural and other changes required to realize an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace at NRR and to influence similar change within NRR stakeholder communities and sectors. Responsibilities include working closely with senior leadership and the full management team to integrate equity, diversity and inclusion into core people and business processes such as performance management, leadership development and workforce diversity planning through the development of new and innovative training tools and resources
  • Articulate and support NRR actions to meet Government’s vision for recovery, renewal, and respect; three pillars including equity; and commitment to creating a more fair and inclusive society
  • Collaborate with equity, diversity, and inclusion colleagues across government to identify diversity, inclusion and equity best practices and approaches to transform the public service, and specifically NRR.

Qualifications and Experience

This may be the right opportunity for you if you are a leader with extensive partnership and stakeholder relations skills, with a bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e. social science, public administration, human resources) and several years of related experience.

You have significant experience leading projects and/or initiatives from initiation to implementation and have a strategic orientation in leading large corporate horizontal initiatives. You have experience in research and policy development as well as experience providing recommendations and strategies. As the successful candidate, you will also have experience developing partnerships with government departments, agencies and /or employers.

 

In addition, you possess the following:

  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to work under pressure
  • The ability to think innovatively as well as the confidence and conviction to introduce new concepts and solutions founded on sound reason and judgment, experience, and expertise

Work is conducted within an office environment.

Pay Grade:  EC 11

Salary Range:  $3,143.79 – $3,929.78 Bi-Weekly
