Executive Director (Network Coordinator)

 

Location:  St. Peter’s, Nova Scotia

Term:  August 28, 2023 — July 12, 2024 (43 weeks); possibility of continued employment dependent on funding

Salary:  $32.41 — $37.91 per hour plus MERC, 37.5 hrs per week

Working with the Board of Directors of the Richmond County Literacy Network (RCLN), the Executive Director is responsible and accountable for the direct administration of the Nova Scotia School of Adult Learning (NSSAL) agreement with the Nova Scotia Government. The Executive Director liaises between the RCLN Board and RCLN staff, and provides strategic direction and policy development for the organization.

 

Skills & Competencies

 

Business/Administrative/HR:

  • Strong understanding of organizational management and personnel issues
  • Demonstrated ability in developing business plans, budgets, proposals, reports, HR policies and procedures
  • Adept at program coordination including community needs assessments, recruitment of learners, hiring of qualified instructors, orientation of paid staff as well as volunteer tutors, scheduling to optimize resources, and program evaluation
  • Adept at using information technology for business management, ensuring the appropriate completion of data entry and management

 

General:

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Presentation, facilitation, problem-solving & relationship building skills
  • Understanding of inclusionary practice, ethical decision making, and respect for diversity and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of adult education programming and principles as well as related services

 

 

Position Responsibilities:

Develop and administer organizational policies, strategic plans, annual budgets; prepare funding proposals and grant applications; assess the organization’s overall performance; responsible for the organization’s promotion, development of programs, relationship development with referring agencies and the recruitment of learners. This position reports to the RCLN Board and is directly accountable for the negotiation and the deliverables/outcomes of the NSSAL funding agreement.
