Competition #: 0050-21 Position: Public Health Inspector Practicum Student
The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is currently recruiting for a Public Health Inspector Practicum Student for our Health Protection Division in our Port Hope office for the summer of 2022.
Summary:
The Public Health Inspector Practicum Student will work under the guidance of a Public Health Inspector mentor to carry out activities as required by the Ontario Public Health Standards related to Food Safety, Safe Water, Infectious Disease Prevention and Control, Rabies Prevention, Health Hazard Prevention and Management, Vector Borne Diseases and Public Health Emergency Preparedness.
The successful candidate will have:
A) Education
• Enrolled in/or completed Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) Program, Bachelor of Technology in Environmental Health, Bachelor of Health Science (Public Health)
B) Knowledge, skills and experience:
• Experience in basic computer applications in a Windows-based environment
• Proficiency in oral and written communication skills
• Current and satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle for work
• Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors Membership
C) Professional affiliation:
• Obtains Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors student membership prior to commencement of work
Location: Port Hope
Salary Range: $21/hour
Start Date: May 16, 2022
