As a Community Support Worker, you will enjoy a challenging career where your contributions are valued, recognized and your professional growth is supported.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting clients with activities of daily living, including (but not limited to) administering medications, bathing and personal care, meal preparation, cleaning, laundry, grocery shopping, attending medical appoints, etc.
- Assisting clients’ transition to community living where appropriate
- Practices a person-directed approach to supporting clients
- Improving client’s quality of life by making a positive impact on everyday activities
- Developing a strong respectful relationship with the clients you are supporting
- Nurturing a strong rapport with family members, while also building and maintaining relationships with other supports
- Planning and facilitating leisure, recreational and social activities
- Maintain detailed and accurate files on each client including daily and quarterly reports
- Responding appropriately in times of crisis/emergency
Qualifications:
- High school graduate. Post-secondary education preferred
- The 7 Provincial Core Competencies outlined by Department of Community Services (can be completed upon hire)
- Ability to provide a clear, current Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination
- Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must be a team player and demonstrate a high degree of initiative, judgement, and a positive can-do attitude
