IT Application Coordinator

Marine Atlantic is currently looking for an IT Application Coordinator to work with our
Information Technology/Information Management (IT/IM) division. The successful
candidates may choose to work from either Port aux Basques or North Sydney.

The IT/IM division is critical for ensuring the necessary systems, infrastructure and support are
available to enable the day to day operations of other functional areas within Marine Atlantic.
The IT/IM division is also critical to ensuring that corporate information is appropriately
managed and protected, as well as that the Management of Marine Atlantic has the
information it needs to run the organization effectively and efficiently.

Reporting to the Applications Management Supervisor, the IT Application Coordinator works
to coordinate, document, and manage the IT/IM application portfolio and its support structures.
Complemented by a technical background and ITIL best practices, this person bridges the
facilitation between applications,
vendors, and application support throughout the application life cycle.

As a member of the IT Operations team, the IT Application Coordinator is a strong facilitator of
cross departmental support and work with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

Additional Key Areas of Responsibility

• Acts as a nexus between the business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and the application support
processes with guidance on best practices that align with Marine Atlantic strategic objectives
• Strives to optimize and enhance application management practices built on ITIL standards
• Works closely with system support analysts and align with helpdesk support practices
• Prioritization and management of internal and external support tickets
• Plans and facilitates functional and unit testing with business SMEs
• Identifies issues and risks ensuring they are managed until closure
• Develops application support documents and system documentation as needed
• Present progress and results of tasks to management and other interested parties
• Facilitate onboarding and knowledge transfer between parties for existing and new applications
transitioning into operations
• Conduct research and attend training and/or industry seminars as appropriate based on the
growth of the application portfolio
• Measure and report on vendor metrics and performance
• Works diligently, to promote a physically and psychologically safe working environment, that
is diverse, accessible, inclusive and equitable.
• Assist in the accomplishment of company objectives by performing other related duties as
required

What qualifications do I need to be considered for this opportunity? Education
A degree from a recognized university/college in an IT related field

OR

A combination of equivalent education, job-related training, and work experience in a related
position.

Additional Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years’ of relevant work experience in a related field
• ITIL Certification or applicable environment experience (Incident, Request, Change, and
Problem Management)

• Previous experience with Application Lifecycle Management
• Experience with vendor and contract management, evaluation, and reporting (SLA/KPI reporting)
• Strong ability to facilitate workshops, meetings, etc.
• Experience with support process mapping and document maintenance

• Superior organizational skills and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to
organize, prioritize, and multi-task
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with all levels of stakeholders
