Job Description

The Kearl Environment and Regulatory (E&R) Intern will work as part of the on-site Kearl E&R Team.   Primary job duties include:

  • Assisting the Kearl Field E&R Advisors with management of environmental programs
  • Response to environmental incidents
  • Providing environment and regulatory support to the Operation

 

This position will be a full time fly-in, fly-out camp based role to the Kearl site with a 14 days on/14 days off work schedule. Bussing is available from Fort McMurray, and flights are available from either Calgary or Edmonton. Relocation assistance to Fort McMurray, Calgary or Edmonton is available if required. Bus transportation is also available to Kearl site from Fort McMurray at the beginning and end of each shift rotation for Fort McMurray residents

 

Kearl operations will provide safe, secure and quiet accommodation near to the worksite for employees working on rotating work schedules. Facilities include a private room/washroom for each employee.

Qualifications

Academic:

  • Studying to achieve a university degree or college diploma in environmental science, engineering, or technology program at a post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies after the work term
  • Available for a 4, 8, or 12 month work term beginning in May 2022
  • Your most recent unofficial transcript(s) must be submitted with your application
  • Demonstrated leadership and strong academic skills

 

Other:

  • Previous industry experience is considered beneficial, but not essential
  • Able to work a 14 days on/14 days off rotation
  • Able to communicate effectively with team members
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team-based environment
  • A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record is an asset
  • Work schedule: Full time position

Eligibility to work in Canada

All applicants who receive an offer of employment must be eligible to work in Canada on a regular full-time basis without restrictions on their start date.  Proof of eligibility shall be in the form of a Canadian birth certificate, Canadian passport, Canadian citizenship certificate, Canadian certificate of permanent residence, Canadian open work permit or receipt from Immigration Canada of an application for a post-graduate work permit. Proof of eligibility must be current and valid (not expired, cancelled or voided). Proof of eligibility will be required if an offer of employment is made. Failure to provide proof of eligibility at least six (6) weeks prior to the start date may result in the offer of employment being rescinded.
