Please note: This posting is for a 4-month Fall 2022 Student placement with a start date of September 2022, and end date of December 2022. In order to be eligible for this 4-month Student position, you must either:

  • Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of December 2022; or
  • If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in December 2022), you must require the full 4-month work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.

What is the opportunity?

This is a great opportunity to join the Data Domain program within GRM Strategic Initiatives & Change Management Team. A data domain is an area of related data, managed consistently across RBC by defined roles and processes, regardless of who produces, uses or alters it. RBC’s data vision is to become a digitally-enabled organization that efficiently uses data to make smarter and faster decisions and to improve our customer experience. To get the most out of our data and unlock its value, data needs to be explicitly managed in the same responsible way as our other corporate resources. The coop will build solid understanding on RBC data management practices and gain extensive experience in data management, business analysis, agile delivery, etc. They will also have lots of interactions with and exposures to Risk Management function, Data Management office and Technology teams.

What will you do?

  • Build solid understanding of Enterprise Data Management practices, including Framework, Policy, Standard, etc.
  • Identify, summarize and analyze transformation rules being implemented for risk reporting
  • Assist in the write-up of Critical Data Element (CDE) memos for critical risk reports
  • Prepare materials for program status tracking and updates
  • Support other RBC GRM efficiency opportunities

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Academic focus in business, finance, statistics, mathematics, or a quantitative discipline
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to think outside the box
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Expert in MS Office, particularly in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to learn and appetite for challenges

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge or experience of Risk Management and Credit Products
  • Familiarity with programming languages in SQL, Python, R, SAS, or Tableau
  • Minimum B+ GPA
