Exploration Field Technician – Ground Truth Exploration

GroundTruth Exploration is gearing up for a big season of soil sampling and other mineral exploration activities in Newfoundland in 2021. Recent major gold discoveries throughout the province indicate a busy year in 2021 and beyond as these initial targets are properly interrogated and new ones are identified. We are initially looking for entry level workers, however we are a young company and there is lots of room for upward, multi-year growth for motivated individuals who love a very dynamic and challenging work environment. The Job

Exploration Field Technicians (EFTs) are responsible for performing Soil, Till, and Geophysical Field Surveys in remote locations. The EFT will be trained and must be able to competently collect soil/till samples and assist with geophysics surveys without direct supervision. EFT’s will be required to navigate planned traverses and extract soil samples at sufficient depths using a hand-held auger or survey specific geophysical equipment.

 

Work and Camp Living Environment

EFT’s work in crews of 5-11 people and require individuals to work and live in close proximity to one another for up to 1 month at a time. Camps are made up of pup tents, wall tents or hotels in remote locations across Canada where GroundTruth is performing work. Camps are provisioned with necessities, however, camps are meant to be agile and minimalist as they need to move from site to site. Each crew member is responsible to contribute to daily camp duties (making fires, cooking, dishes etc.)

 

Pay for entry level staff is $200/day for a contracted 12 hour day of work. Field work accounts for apprx 8 hours of this time, and camp duties the rest. A typical day is usually 10 hours.

 

As the Right Candidate You:

-Are safety oriented at all times

-Have or plan on obtaining First Aid Certification CPR Level C & AED

-Are physically fit; able to hike up to 10 hours in mountainous terrain with a heavy pack (60lbs) and able to navigate alone in the bush

-Have a sense of adventure and enjoy working and living outdoors in remote locations and rustic conditions

-Are comfortable working alone in the wilderness

-Have an excellent attitude; a don’t-give-up mentality; work well alone and in a team; thrive on challenging yourself physically and mentally

 

Preference may be given to candidates who:

-Have previous remote camp work/life experience such as tree planting

-Are in possession of: PAL, Chainsaw Certification and/or Advanced Wilderness First Aid

-Live in the “Atlantic Bubble”
