The Opportunity

The Northside Employment & Resource Centre is a Nova Scotia Works Employment Services Centre. We have been delivering employment-related programs and services to both job seekers and employers in our community for 25 years.

 

Our organization is seeking an individual who is passionate about assisting others to achieve career success within a highly professional, diverse, and inclusive team environment.

 

The Case Manager serves a pivotal role within the Nova Scotia Works Employment Services Centre service model by providing services to individuals with the goal of increasing employability. They assess barriers to career success, develop a working alliance with job seekers and career changers with diverse backgrounds and abilities, and in partnership with individuals, create a return to work action plan to address those barriers. Case Managers provide support, information, and resources to enhance success in job search, entrepreneurship, retraining, and career goal attainment. They make referrals to internal and external services, provide up to date information on labour market trends, explain services, programs, and available funding and provide ongoing support pre- and post-employment or self-employment to increase successful outcomes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting needs assessments
  • Identify client’s barriers to employment
  • Developing a client action plan to address barriers to employment
  • Managing client files and maintaining client database
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and adjusting action plan as needed
  • Providing follow up with clients and recording outcomes

Qualifications:

  • Must have or be willing to attain the Certified Career Development Practitioner designation
  • Must be willing to attain the Case Manager Specialization Certification
  • Degree or Post-secondary Education in Human Services or related field of study or a combination of education and work-related/community and volunteer experience
  • A clean criminal record check/vulnerable sector check
  • Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends on occasion

Skills & Competencies:

  • Good knowledge of community organizations, service providers, and referral agencies
  • Ability to access and effectively use information and communications technology (Microsoft Office applications and online communications tools)
  • Strong networking and effective communication skills – verbal and written
  • Excellent interpersonal and judgment skills
  • Demonstrates practice of inclusion, ethical decision making, and respect for diversity
  • Commitment to professional development and career self-management
