Business Analyst, Group Risk Mgmt – RBC – 12 Month Internship

What is the opportunity?

Across RBC, we have a collection of one year PEY roles across different groups ranging from Group Risk Management (GRM) Market Risk, Innovation, and Credit Strategies teams to Personal & Commercial Banking Mutual Funds Distribution and Home Equity Financing teams.  No matter where you land, you will be given an opportunity to work in a fluid, highly skilled team helping us solve big problems and understand the opportunities and issues. Your role can be product focused, services focused, systems focused or any combination of the above – we help find you the home of best fit through the interview process and work with you to ensure success for all. You will have access to world class experts in finance, technology and risk management and will be working with engaged sponsors from end to end.  You will be immersed in a fast paced, forward thinking environment in Canada’s top financial institution with a 150+ year track record of success.

What will you do?

We’re looking for people that have a mix of strong quantitative and problem solving skills, communicate well and are able to work through complex and ambiguous challenges.  You need to be a self-driven and hyper engaged individual that’s willing to learn finance and risk management from world class teams in a fast paced and challenging environment.  Your responsibilities may include:

  • Support project Management
    • Business analysis
    • Documentation
    • Minutes, takeaways, etc.
    • Designing/maintaining RBC Connect project sites
    • Creating project management templates
  • Support Data Management
    • Data profiling
    • Data quality analysis

What do you need to succeed?

  • Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast paced environment
  • Passion for finance, banking, or risk management and generally striving to learn new things and develop skillsets
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills – able to effectively work in a team environment

Must-have:

  • Strong business and data analysis skills
  • Technical background is a strong asset
  • Ability to create engaging PowerPoint presentations (design & communication skills)
  • Ability multi-task and be comfortable to deal with ambiguity and work independently

Nice-to-haves:

  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to AML, Anti-Terrorist Financing, Economic Sanctions and Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption
  • Understanding /experience in IT Project management
  • Demonstrates knowledge of statistics and data analysis
  • Proficiency in programming and/or database programs (e.g. SAS, SQL, MS Access, R, Python)
  • Ability to use reporting tools (Tableau)
