BHTM Summer Internship: Cabot Links Service Assistant

As a Service Assistant at Cabot, you should share a passion for service excellence and infuse enthusiasm into everything you do. You will support and assist the service team by working in various roles and stations in our many restaurants.  These responsibilities include greeting and seating guests, managing the reservations, supporting the bar team, expediting food from the kitchen pass, running food from the kitchen to the guests, and bussing tables.

Working as a Service Assistant is a wonderful way to develop a broad range of knowledge in a busy food & beverage operation. This role is recommended for those who want to develop and grow in our industry and wish to have well rounded experience to do so.

Core Accountabilities:

Pre-service set up:

Ensure the bar is fully stocked with clean glassware, straws, napkins, ice, alcohol and mixers, such as juices and sodas

Change kegs of beer and syrups for soda fountain as needed

Prepare drink garnishes such as wedges and twists of lime, lemon and orange

Prepare the table layout for the reservations coming in for the evening

Prepare the kitchen pass for the service ahead

During service:

Warmly welcome our guests to the dining room and escort to their assigned table.

Assist bar team in bringing wines from the cellar, changing kegs, prepare cocktails and specialty coffees.

Wash and polish glassware

Ensure that overall cleanliness and maintenance of the bar exceeds expectations (clean any spills, collect dirty glassware and dishes, remove garbage/recycling and broken glassware as needed)

Restock clean glassware, straws, napkins, ice as needed

Restock alcohol and mixers, such as juices and sodas as needed

Expedite and run food from the kitchen to the table

Post-service closing:

Collect, clean, polish and restock all dirty glassware

Restock bar with alcohol and mixers

Remove garbage, recycling, broken glassware and dispose of in appropriate receptacles

Bring any concerns to the attention of the Manager/Supervisor On Duty (related to internal or external guests, food or service quality, operation of the room, physical surroundings)

Comply with proper security, fire regulation, and all health and safety policies

Follow departmental policies, procedures and service standards

Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work flexible hours – weekends and evenings as required
  • A Passion to learn and development further knowledge in the hospitality industry
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be professional, personable and well-presented
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to spend long hours walking and standing
  • Frequently lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs
  • Continual ascending or descending stairs and ramps
  • Continual kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
