Please note: Due to the ever-evolving situation with COVID-19, and keeping the safety and well-being of our communities (both current and future) in mind, we are no longer accepting applications from international students for the May 2020 intake.

Applications for the September 2020 intake are open, but please know the status of courses may change. Cape Breton University’s response to COVID-19 has always been guided by our commitment to the health and safety of our campus community and informed by recommendations being made by the Nova Scotia Chief Medical Officer of Health. Information about COVID-19 is rapidly changing and the University’s response continues to evolve along with it.

Have you previously attended any other postsecondary institutions? You may be eligible for transfer credit

Please note: official supporting documents include transcripts, credentials and proof of English Language Proficiency. To be considered official, all documents must come directly from the issuing institution or be a notarized copy of the original. Cape Breton University reserves the right to request the original documents.

If you’ve attended or applied to CBU in the past, but wish to make changes to your application (including changing your program), please email admissions@cbu.ca.

Please note: If you’ve been away from CBU for more than one academic year, you’ll need to complete a reactivation form. Once completed, you can submit it to admissions@cbu.ca.

Please submit the online application. When indicating the program you’re applying for, please choose “Visiting Student.” When indicating your student status, please choose “Visiting/Letter of Permission Student.”

Visiting students do not need to submit transcripts, but must provide a Letter of Permission from their home institution in order to register for courses. Letters of Permission can be sent to admissions@cbu.ca.

The deadline for receipt of applications to the BScN program is Thursday, February 20, 2020. Please review the program admission requirements and submit the online application. After completion of the online application, please ensure all required documentation is sent to admissions@cbu.ca.

Please Note: Students must write the CASPer test and have their results forwarded to Cape Breton University to be considered for admission. CASPer test must be written by the application deadline. Please visit https://takecasper.com/ for test dates.

Applications for CBU’s MEd, SCI program can be completed online, but need to be accompanied by the following items:

Please note: At this time, Nova Scotia public school teachers cannot use this program for teaching license reclassification.

If you’re new to CBU, please submit the online application. If you’re returning to CBU, but attended another postsecondary institution in your absence, please see information for “Returning to CBU” above.

After identifying and following the appropriate application process, please submit applications for a Transfer Credit Assessment and/or Prior Learning Assessment.
