Your gift, regardless of size, can have a major impact on CBU. As our students prepare to step out into the world and shape the future you can make a difference in their lives. Your generous contribution to CBU can be used exactly as you’d like—all you have to do is specify your wishes, and we’ll do our best to make it HAPPEN!
Let’s take a look at some of the ways your giving has impacted our students:
The Rita MacNeil Music Award – Over $100,000 has been raised to establish the Rita MacNeil Music Award—an amazing tribute for a woman who did so much to put the music of Cape Breton on the main stage. This award will be given to local CBU students pursuing the study of music in the Bachelor of Arts Community Studies (BACS) four year music major program.
Purdy Crawford Chair in Aboriginal Business Studies – The Purdy Crawford Chair in Aboriginal Business Studies is focused on promoting interest among Canada’s Indigenous people in the study of business education at the post-secondary level, while undertaking pure and applied research specific to Aboriginal communities. Recently, the chair was the recipient of $100,000 in support from Grant Thornton, in addition to $25,000 in support from RBC, numerous donations from alumni young and old, as well as members of the community. These donations give the Purdy Crawford Chair in Aboriginal Business Studies the funds required to tackle their ambitious agenda, as well as expand its outreach across Canada.
These examples represent only a sliver of the impact your donations have on CBU. From scholarships to expansion, to gifts in-kind, and more, your donations are the heart of CBU. By supporting us, you’re providing opportunities for CBU students from all over the world to make positive impacts on their communities. Donate today, and help CBU make it HAPPEN!
