Saying Goodbye to Our Senior Athletes

Cape Breton, NS

As our senior student-athletes near the end of their CBU careers, it’s easy to be drawn to comforting cliches like “don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened,” or “as one door closes, another opens.” But after the blood, sweat and tears our student athletes have left on the field and the court year after year, we think they deserve a little more than that.

On Friday, February 22, the CBU CAPERS basketball teams will be taking the court against UPEI for their last regular season home game. This is also a special game because it’s Seniors Night, where we will be honouring and saying goodbye to our senior student-athletes from both the basketball and soccer programs.

Hannah Brown, Madison Munro, Shacier Locke, Max Raab, Daniel Pritchard, Stuart Heath, Jessie MacIntyre, Ciera Disipio, Becky Hanna, Chantal Caron, Kennedy Currie, Rachel Yerxa and Madison Goodliffe, you have forever changed the landscape of CBU Athletics, and we wish you nothing but the best as you move forward. Watching each of you grow and develop over the past several years has been a gift to your fans both within the walls of CBU, and across the community.

We hope that the time you have spent representing CBU as a student-athlete is a part of your journey that you’ll always reflect on with pride. Thank you for your dedication, determination and ability to show the world what it means to be a CBU student-athlete. Because of you, the entire country knows the CAPERS are a force to be reckoned with.

So this Friday, we’ll be filling the stands with orange as an effort to give back the love you’ve given CBU over the years. We’ll leave you with just one last cliche, but it’s one we mean wholeheartedly: you will always be a member of the CBU family.

Congratulations!
