Cape Breton University’s Shannon School of Business (SSOB) is enhancing career pathways for students by partnering with the Institute of Sales Professionals (ISP), a global membership body dedicated to advancing professional sales standards. This collaboration will introduce students to the ISP’s Sales Capability Framework, aligning students’ education with essential competencies sought by employers worldwide.
Students, faculty, and partners are invited to attend the official signing ceremony on Tuesday, October 28, at 12:30 p.m. in room SB100.
“This partnership with the Institute of Sales Professionals represents a significant step forward in preparing our students for global careers in professional sales,” says Mary Jane Morrison, Associate Dean, Partnership and Engagement at the Shannon School of Business. “By aligning our curriculum with the ISP’s Sales Capability Framework, we’re ensuring that our graduates are equipped with the competencies employers value most. It’s a powerful opportunity for our students to engage with a global network, access world-class resources, and build meaningful pathways from the classroom to the marketplace.”
Through this collaboration, CBU students will gain exposure to the ISP’s Sales Capability Framework and related learning pathways, which educators and employers use to define, assess and strengthen critical sales competencies. The partnership will also highlight ISP resources tailored to emerging professionals.

For students, the relationship is intended to clarify and standardize the language of sales capability, aligning it with what employers expect. Faculty and staff will be able to direct learners toward structured resources that align with recognized professional standards, creating clearer pathways from the classroom to internships, entry-level roles and early career progression.
