CBU’s Boardmore Theatre Brings Macbeth To Cape Breton

Cape Breton University’s Boardmore Theatre presents William Shakespeare’s Macbeth November 24-27, 2022. This year’s production of Macbeth is the Theatre’s first Shakespeare production since 2016 and is sure to delight fans of all ages.

 A play about a brave Scottish general who receives a prophecy from a trio of witches that one day he will become King of Scotland,  The Tragedy of MacBeth follows a man through ambition and action to guilt, paranoia and madness. 

“In true Boardmore tradition, this production features new and experienced actors and technicians, led by the versatile Phonse Walsh as Macbeth and the talented Carrie MacDonald as Lady Macbeth,” says Todd Hiscock, Director of the Boardmore Theatre. The talented cast and crew is excited to present the show to a variety of audiences, including close to 1000 middle and high school students from the Cape Breton Victoria Regional Centre for Education. 

The production will run on Thursday, November 24, at 10:00am, Friday, November 25, at 10:00am and 7:00pm, Saturday, November 26, at 7:00pm and Sunday, November 27, at 2:00pm. During the pay-what-you-can November 25 performances, entry will be granted by cash donation or non-perishable food items for the CBU Students’ Union Food Bank.

The CBU Playhouse Box Office is open from 1:00-5:00pm, Monday to Friday and one hour before each show time. The box office will open one week prior to performances and during the week of performances. For ticket information, call 902-563-1652
