CBU’s Art Gallery and Beaton Institute Receive Provincial Funding

I am pleased to inform you that today, September 26, 2018, the Province of Nova Scotia announced $700,000 in annual funding for the Cape Breton University Art Gallery and the Beaton Institute.
Cape Breton University is proud to be the home to both of these very important cultural centres and to celebrate culture the way that we do. These centres provide tremendous value to the entire Nova Scotia region and further enrich and enhance our communities. I am thrilled to see them recognized in this way.
Labour and Advanced Education Minister Labi Kousoulis made the announcement via press release and was quoted as saying, “The Beaton Institute and the Art Gallery are not just important to the students and staff of Cape Breton University, but also to the broader community across the Island. Both institutions are vital to the historical and cultural wellbeing of Nova Scotia.”
This annual funding is in recognition of the importance the centres hold in the community. The province also noted that this investment supports the Culture Action Plan and a vision of being a place known for its empowered, vibrant communities and a strong creative economy.
Please join me in congratulating the Beaton Institute and the Art Gallery.
Yours very truly,
David C. Dingwall
