CBU to Host Community Open House 2025

On Saturday, October 25, Cape Breton University will host Open House 2025, inviting future students, families, alumni and community members to campus from 11:00am to 3:00pm.

This year’s Open House will showcase faculty and student service booths, guided campus tours, and interactive activities, along with opportunities to explore campus including the newly renovated Kehoe Forum. Future students can apply on the spot at no cost, while guests are invited to discover more about university life, visit the Library, Boardmore Theatre, Beaton Institute, and CBU Art Gallery, or stop by the Nancy Dingwall Health and Counselling Centre to learn about wellness resources or receive a flu or covid vaccine.

CBU Athletics and Recreation will also host activities in the Sullivan Fieldhouse alongside Blizzard youth hockey games, a sledge hockey showcase and opportunities to explore the fitness centre. Throughout the day, participants will have the chance to enter prize draws, enjoy live entertainment by members of Coastline, an all CBU student band and tailored faculty tours of their respective labs and research opportunities.

“Open House is one of the most exciting days of the year at CBU,” says Matthew Brown, Manager of Canadian Recruitment. “It is more than just showcasing our programs, it is about welcoming people into our community. Whether you are a future student, an alum or a neighbour from across Cape Breton, Open House is your opportunity to see how CBU is growing and how you can be part of our future.”

Future students who pre-register for the event will receive a free application voucher and be entered to win prizes, including a $5,000 tuition waiver and a MacBook Air.

“There has never been a better time to join CBU,” says Brown. “With the opening of our Medical Campus, ongoing campus growth and our commitment to innovation in programs and student services, CBU continues to move forward with momentum. We are proud to show visitors what it means to be part of the CBU community.”
