CBU Boardmore Theatre Brings The Addams Family to Life With First Musical Production Post-COVID

Cape Breton University’s Boardmore Theatre is closing out November with a lively, offbeat and wonderfully weird production of The Addams Family (School Edition), taking the stage from November 24–30, 2025.

The production marks an exciting milestone for the Boardmore Theatre community as the first musical staged since the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Boardmore Theatre has been a cornerstone for musical theatre in our community for years,” says Holly Schaller, Director of the play. “This production marks our first musical post-COVID, and we couldn’t be happier that it is something both accessible and exciting for the entire family.”

Written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice, with music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa and orchestrations by Larry Hochman, this beloved musical brings the iconic Addams family to life with all the humour, charm and kookiness audiences expect. In this story, Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has fallen in love with a kind, thoughtful young man from a “normal” family. When his parents come to dinner, secrets unravel, families collide and chaos ensues in classic Addams fashion.

“Musical theatre presents a big challenge for a cast,” says Todd Hiscock, Director of CBU’s Boardmore Theatre, noting the talent and dedication behind the production. “They need to possess the triple threat: acting, dancing and singing. This cast has certainly met this challenge and is ready to take audiences on a spooky, kooky, fun ride.”
