Boardmore Theatre Presents: The Walworth Farce

The Boardmore Theatre is proud to present The Walworth Farce, written by acclaimed playwright Enda Walsh. Directed by Todd Hiscock, this high-energy comedy explores the shocking realism, visceral tragedy and hilarious absurdity of a family trapped by the stories they tell themselves.

The play centers on an Irish immigrant to London, Dinny, and his two adult sons, Blake and Sean. Every day, the trio performs a meticulously rehearsed play written by Dinny that re-enacts the events of the day they fled Ireland. The intense and absurd “play within a play” explores how people can use storytelling to rewrite their own history.

The Walworth Farce is one of those plays that can have you laughing and being terrified at the same time. The idea of repeating the same story over and over again can be at turns hilarious and gut wrenching – The Walworth Farce succeeds at both,” says Director Todd Hiscock. “Working with veteran actors Mike MacPhee, Aaron Corbett, Bryan Nash and Chi Chi Egereonu has been a director’s dream. They have created characters like no others ever to perform on the Boardmore stage.”
