Cape Breton University’s President & Vice-Chancellor, David Dingwall announced that Annette Verschuren, O.C., will conclude her tenure as Chancellor. After serving with distinction for two decades, Annette has the honour of being the longest-serving Chancellor in Canadian history.
Annette Verschuren has served as Chancellor of Cape Breton University since 2004. Born and raised in Cape Breton, Annette has always carried her roots proudly, bringing national and international recognition to her home island.
“Annette Verschuren’s dedication to Cape Breton University, to Cape Breton Island and to Nova Scotia is extraordinary. She has been a tireless advocate, a source of inspiration for our students, and a leader who embodies the values of service and excellence,” says President & Vice-Chancellor, David C. Dingwall. “Her influence reaches well beyond our island. She is well respected across the country as a business leader, philanthropist, and champion of education. Annette will continue her connection with CBU as co-chair of the Forever CBU Campaign.
During her two decades as Chancellor, Annette presided over countless convocations, inspiring thousands of graduates as they crossed the stage to begin new chapters in their lives. She has been a visible and passionate advocate for Cape Breton University, lending her voice to the institution’s mission.
