Strategic CBU Appointments

To the University community,

In July of 2020, I announced interim staffing changes in order to better serve the CBU community, both internally and externally, with a strong focus on customer care. I am pleased to share with you, today, that we have formalized some of those changes and recently made further strategic appointments to allow us to move forward with our strategic goals and priorities.

I am pleased to announce Becky Chisholm as Associate Vice-President, University Relations, Bilynda Whiting as University Registrar and Director of Admissions, and Katie Rideout as Director, Human Resources.

Becky Chisholm has more than a decade of experience working in the post-secondary sector and has been a member of the CBU Executive Team since 2018. Becky has successfully been leading the marketing, communications and recruitment functions and recently established a Business Intelligence Unit under her portfolio. She successfully led CBU’s brand exercise and subsequent rebranding in 2019. Becky holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in marketing from CBU, and a Bachelor of Public Relations and Master of Public Relations degrees, both from Mount Saint Vincent University. In her new role, Becky will strengthen internal and external relations and work with her teams to help advance CBU’s strategic priorities.

Bilynda Whiting PortraitBilynda Whiting has more than 20 years of experience working in post-secondary education with a focus on Registrar’s experience. She also has more than 25 years of experience in adult education and has previously served as the President of the Atlantic Association of College and Universities. Bilynda holds a Master of Education in Post-Secondary Studies from Memorial University of Newfoundland and has taught part-time in the post-secondary environment. With extensive expertise in Student Retention, Persistence and Enrolment Management, the University Registrar and Director of Admissions will oversee Admissions, Registration, Student Records, Student Finance, Scholarships, Academic Calendar/scheduling and Convocation, and work to advance the student experience.

Katie Rideout joined CBU in 2018 as the Manager, Human Resources and, since then, has made significant contributions to improve the employee experience at CBU through exceptional and collaborative human resources practices. Prior to joining CBU, Katie spent 10 years in the private and public sectors in various human resource roles. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree and Certificate in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution from Dalhousie University as well as a Certificate in Human Resource Management from Saskatchewan Polytechnic. As the Director, Katie will continue the good work underway and look to enhance the employee experience at CBU by fulfilling our strategic commitment to empower faculty and staff.

The leadership shown by these individuals as they navigated the complexities and challenges created by the pandemic, while leading a dedicated team of professionals, has been inspiring. We look forward to the work to come as we continue to review and strengthen our organizational structure with strategic purpose and move to enhance student experience and success.

Please join me in congratulating Becky, Bilynda and Katie.

Yours very truly,

David C. Dingwall
