Why Am I (?) Hamlet: Artist in Residence Event
Through the winter MacIvor will dissect, challenge, celebrate, and explode Shakespeare’s most famous play as part of his MA Lab with the University of Toronto. Taking a deep dive into the themes of the play MacIvor will investigate why this character is still the role of choice for actors to show their mettle. The play will be reimagined as a six hour, live-stream, open rehearsal. Essentially this will be a one-person event with guests Zooming in to play scenes with MacIvor and challenge his interpretations and biases around the character and the play. The event will be recorded. From that footage, a twenty minute film will be created.
