Join us for another iteration of Philosophy Café in the Student Lounge on the first floor of CBU Library on Friday, March 1 from 12:00-1:30pm.
Hosted by Andrew Reynolds, Professor of Philosophy, this session will take the question of What is the purpose of a university? Is it to encourage ‘self-discovery’ and a ‘life of the mind’? Or to prepare people with employable skills applicable in the real world? Should universities be agents of social criticism and change or sources of stability and security? Should they teach students to question false dichotomies? Who pays and who benefits from the existence of a university like CBU? Is a university education worth the price of admission? Come have your say-and hear what others think!
Everyone welcome.
