On Monday, October 6, Dr. Felix Odartey-Wellington and Dr. Scott Rodney will share perspectives on the journey toward this achievement.
Join us at 4:00pm in the Yvonne LeVert Hospitality Suite for 15-minute individual presentations from each honouree, followed by a moderated discussion, refreshments and mingling.
Dr. Felix Odartey-Wellington
Since joining Cape Breton University in 2009, Dr. Felix Odartey-Wellington has brought communication concepts vividly to life in the classroom, using them to tackle today’s most urgent societal questions, taking the communication program in new and exciting directions. The winner of the CBU Instructional Leadership Award (2018) and the Distinguished Teaching Award (2023), he has designed and delivered an impressive repertoire of courses across the communication discipline. He has also integrated Caper Radio into experiential learning opportunities for students.
A public intellectual with a rare blend of expertise in law, strategic studies and communication, Dr. Odartey-Wellington also serves as a Senior Public Affairs Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces, telling the Canadian military’s story at home and on the world stage. His operational deployments span domestic and international theatres, including Operation LASER, Operation VECTOR, Operation UNIFIER, Security Assistance Group–Ukraine, and Operation REASSURANCE – Black Sea Mine Countermeasures. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his military experience to the classroom.
Dr. Odartey-Wellington’ scholarly work cuts across defence and strategic studies, media studies and communications law, making him a voice that bridges academia, policy, and practice. In every role as scholar, teacher, lawyer and military communicator, Dr. Odartey-Wellington blends rigorous analysis with lived experience to illuminate complex issues and inspire informed action.
