The Dr. David F. Sobey Scholarship

***This application is for students entering Cape Breton University direct from high school only. Current CBU students are not eligible for this award.***

Cape Breton University is pleased to offer the Dr. David F. Sobey Scholarship for
the 2026‐2027 academic year. Four awards, valued at $7,500 each, are available
to students that meet the eligibility criteria below.

Applicants must:

• Graduate from an Atlantic Canadian high school
• Have a minimum graduating average of 90%
• Be a first‐year student entering full‐time study in any program

To apply:

Please complete the Dr. David F. Sobey Scholarship application form, where you will be asked to submit:

• A two‐page essay (1,000 words max) outlining the following:
  – Your professional goals
  – How the scholarship will assist you in achieving your goals
  – Examples of leadership in your community and/or extra‐curricular
  activities
  – Examples of volunteering both in your community and/or in high school activities
• A copy of your resume
