CBU offers a comprehensive set of liberal arts, science, and professional programs and a unique commitment to community, economic development, aboriginal learning, and research into many aspects of environment and culture. Currently home to approximately 5000 students, CBU’s vision of higher education allows students to pursue diverse fields of study in programs with national reputations in final year student satisfaction, faculty-student interaction, and employability.

Responding to a program expansion, the Department of Nursing is seeking two dynamic registered nurses to become members of a progressive, energetic and research-focused department. Teaching in a concept-based curriculum, the nursing faculty seeks candidates whose philosophy and commitment are complementary. In addition to teaching and research, the successful candidates may be required to participate in nursing practice with groups of students in various practice settings, simulation and/or labs.

The successful candidates must have:
– (or be eligible for) an active practicing license with the NSCN prior to commencement of this position;
– a Master’s degree in a health-related discipline;
– a PhD in a health-related field (those currently enrolled in a PhD or doctoral program will be considered); and
– a developing or established research program

Preferred qualifications include:
– Teaching expertise demonstrated by prior teaching experience and positive student/peer evaluations.
– Research expertise evidenced by a strong research program, i.e., publications in peer-reviewed journals, presentations, research in the field of health, and other contributions to nursing knowledge.
– Excellence in scholarly activities exemplified by contributions to local, provincial, regional, and national initiatives/governance.

CBU teaches programs on campus, off campus in locations across and outside of Canada, and on-line. The university and its partners will therefore provide opportunities for faculty members to teach in different modes in different locations as part of their regular workload. While these opportunities may not be available equally for all faculty positions in all programs, a clear willingness to teach in different modes and locations will be noted as part of your application.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate potential and commitment with regard to teaching, research/creative/scholarly activities and service to Cape Breton University, community and profession.

The union affiliation of this position is with the Cape Breton University Faculty Association.
