Dr. Shine (Xu) Zhang holds the Canada Research Chair (Tier II) in Healthy Environments and Communities and the Industrial Research Chair in Applied Nanotechnology. His research program aims at exploiting nanotechnology and nanomaterials for environmental and health applications with focus on water treatment, cancer diagnostics and treatment with precision nanomedicine. He is developing effective approaches for water treatment, environmental remediation, and cancer treatment with his expertise in Fenton chemistry, electrochemistry, nanocomposite materials, nanosurface chemistry, and published 65 research articles in high-quality journals (h-index: 30). Dr. Zhang graduated with a PhD (Analytical Chemistry) from the University of Waterloo in 2009. He continued his academic career with postdoctoral research projects at the University of Waterloo and Harvard University (School of Engineering and Applied Science).
