Jan Hancock

My research focus is in human rights with a particular focus on environmental and economic rights. I have published two research books: Environmental Human Rights (Ashgate) and Human Rights and US Foreign Policy, (Routledge) as well as numerous research articles on human rights in the journals including Capitalism Nature Socialism, the Review of International Studies, the European Journal of International Relations, the International Journal of Human Rights, Modern History Review and Politics Today. I am presently engaged in an applied research project aiming to increase affordable housing options for residents of the CBRM. Prior to joining CBU I held lectureships at Birkbeck College, London and Manchester University. I held a three year Hallsworth Research Fellowship to study human rights at Manchester University 2004-2007. I attained my BA (Modern History and Politics), MSc (International Relations) and PhD (human rights) from the Department of Politics, Southampton University (UK).
