Emily MacLeod

Assistant Professor, Nursing

As a staff nurse, Emily MacLeod has worked primarily in the emergency department at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital where she has advanced her clinical learning and leadership by attending certification programs such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support [ACLS], Pediatric Advanced Life Support [PALS] and Trauma Nursing Core Course [TNCC]. She obtained her Emergency Nursing Program certification through the Registered Nurses Professional Development Centre and recently became certified to practice as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner [SANE]. Along with her clinical practice, her academic career began at Dalhousie University where she a Teaching Assistant in the School of Nursing in both community health nursing and nursing research while pursuing her M.ScN (thesis) Degree. Returning to CBU in 2017 as an Assistant Professor, Nursing with the goal of advancing nursing practice, education and research. She is currently pursuing her PhD, Nursing at Queen’s University under the supervision of Dr. Lenora Duhn.
