On March 9, 2024, Cape Breton University (CBU) and Nova Scotia Health (NSH) will host the second Student Health Innovation Pitch Competition that will bring together students, businesses, and entrepreneurs, investors and community stakeholders to support investment in the health sector. Students will have the opportunity to bring an innovative health related business idea forward for a chance to win prize money totaling $5000. Prizes will be awarded to the top three student pitches, as determined by a panel of judges. Winner’s will also have access to our ‘Past The Pitch’ mentorship prize package valued at over $5000.

For the purposes of this Student Pitch Event, health innovation is defined as a device, product, software or mobile application. An innovative process or program to support community health will also be considered health innovation.
Applications open on January 20, 2024, to current CBU and NSCC students, as well as recent graduates from the last 1 to 2 years.
Pitch categories include, but are not limited to, med-tech, health and wellness, and community health. Students and recent graduates from any program are welcome to participate and collaborate.
Applications will close on Friday, February 10, 2024.

On March 25, 2023, Cape Breton University and Nova Scotia Health hosted a student pitch competition that brought together students, businesses, entrepreneurs, investors and community stakeholders to support investment in the health sector. Students had an opportunity to bring their business ideas forward for a chance to win $5,000 and business mentorship provided by Invest Nova Scotia, Nova Scotia’s early stage venture capital organization.
Invest Nova Scotia’s goal is to find, fund and foster innovative Nova Scotia start-ups that strive to change the world.
