We are hiring a Finance Co-op Student
Position summary:
The Halifax Port Authority is seeking a Finance Co-op Student for a four-month term to assist the Finance
& Accounting team with departmental processes, reporting, and administrative tasks that support the
department’s efficiency and business operations. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a student
currently enrolled in an accounting program to gain practical experience and insight into the financial
functions of a dynamic port organization.
What you’ll do:
Main Responsibilities:
• Entering Account Payable invoices and batches.
• Assigning commodity codes, reviewing coding on invoices, etc.
• Reconciling supplier statements.
• Preparing financial statement analysis and assisting in special projects as required.
• Assisting with revenue billings when required.
Other miscellaneous duties:
• Updating various listings, subscriptions, memberships, mileage, etc.
• Assistance with yearly data collection and other ad hoc projects.
• Other clerical duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring:
• Highly detail-oriented, organized, and thorough in your work
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Currently enrolled in a business program, preferably with a focus on accounting or finance
(considered an asset)

Position Term
The term of this position is from January 5, 2026 to April 24, 2026.
Compensation
The compensation for this student position will be dependent upon program and year of study. The
minimum rate of this position is $20.50 per hour.
Additional Conditions
• Successful completion and maintenance of a Criminal Record Check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Restricted Area Pass (RAP).
