Production Assistant – Student Position (5-Month Contract May 1st – September 30th)

Polysteel Atlantic Ltd. – Edwardsville, Nova Scotia

Polysteel Atlantic Ltd. is a leading manufacturer of high-performance synthetic rope used in commercial fishing, marine, and industrial applications. We are currently seeking students for Production Assistant positions to support our manufacturing operations.

These roles provide hands-on experience in an industrial environment while assisting operators with routine production tasks that help keep our equipment running efficiently.

A total of 4 student positions are available.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist production operators with routine tasks on extrusion, twisting,
  • Perform tube swaps and handle yarn packages during production
  • Stage raw materials and transport finished products to packaging areas
  • Assist with packaging, palletizing, and labeling of finished rope products
  • Perform basic quality checks and report issues to operators or supervisors
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with plant safety and housekeeping standards
  • Support general production activities as required

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to work a rotating schedule (08:00 – 20:00 + 20:00-08:00)
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn in a hands-on industrial environment
  • Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment
  • Comfortable working on your feet and handling materials
  • Reliable and able to work scheduled shifts independently
  • Mechanical aptitude or interest in manufacturing is considered an asset

Requirements

  • Reliable self-transportation to and from the facility is required
  • CSA-approved safety shoes are required
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Ability to lift and move materials 30lbs as part of normal duties
  • Ability to use basic hand tools
