Are you ready to apply your knowledge in the real world? We are hiring an Industrial Engineering Co-op student for the Summer 2026 term with our Power Production Planning Excellence team.

 

During your time with us, you will gain exposure to what it’s like to be part of a team supporting operational planning, maintenance strategy, and continuous improvement initiatives across Nova Scotia Power’s generating stations.

Key elements of this role include:

  • Supporting Preventive Maintenance (PM) review and standardization initiatives across generating stations
  • Assisting with process improvement and operational analysis related to maintenance planning and scheduling practices
  • Supporting outage planning maturity initiatives, including evaluation of planning workflows and tools
  • Gathering and analyzing operational and maintenance data to identify process variations and improvement opportunities
  • Assisting with process documentation, process mapping, and development of planning standards
  • Supporting organizational change management activities, including communication materials, feedback collection, and adoption tracking

You will be responsible for your personal safety and that of co-workers, by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations.

Working as a valued part of our Power Production Planning Excellence team, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below:

  • Working towards an Industrial Engineering degree (preferred), ideally in the 2nd to 4th year of your studies
  • Students in Computer Science or other Engineering disciplines will also be considered
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Interest in process improvement, operations systems, or organizational change management
  • Ability to work with data and communicate insights clearly
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, data analysis, or process mapping tools is considered an asset
