Reporting To: General Manager and VP of Finance & Operations

Term: 35 hours per week; May 1st -August 31st, 2026.  Time off during this period will not be available.  Training will start mid-April 2026.

Purpose: The CBU Students’ Union is seeking an Operations Supervisor who will assist with operations of The Pit Lounge which includes leading staff, customer service, inventory, and ensuring the Pit runs smoothly and efficiently, often with a focus on external or CBU events and activities. The Operations Supervisor will assist with all CBU Students’ Union ancillary operations which include the Pit Lounge and Caper Convenience.

Specific Responsibilities:

Pit Lounge:

  1. Deliver a student service focused culture across all Pit and other ancillary operations for students and the CBU community which includes staff, alumni, and CBU guests
  2. Train and supervise staff for ancillary operations of the Students’ Union Pit Lounge.
  3. Supervise the day-to-day operations and special events of the Pit Bar.
  4. Handle inventory management including ordering and working with suppliers for the Pit Lounge and Caper Convenience.
  5. Ensure legal compliance is met including Alcohol and Gaming regulations, health and safety codes, security, Smart Serve, and any licensing laws and conditions as deemed appropriate for the role in the bar and store with management, events, and entertainment
  6. Assist with developing a yearly operational plan for the Pit in consultation with students, staff, alumni, and community to be presented annually to the Lounge Management Committee
  7. Liaise with the appropriate Directors of CBU on items related to the CBU Liquor License and ensure all parties involved are informed of any issues arising in the Pit. Ensure appropriate paperwork is maintained on these issues.
  8. Ensure maintenance is kept on all equipment/fixtures and report issues to the General Manager and the VP Finance &
  9. Responsible for bar cleanliness and maintain neat and organized stock
  10. Be willing to jump on cash and assist which may happen for various reasons such as staff shortages, missed shifts, or increased traffic
  11. Promote responsible drinking to patrons in the
  12. Ensure the Pit is a safe and secure facility for students and
  13. Report weekly to the General Manager and VP Finance and Operations on the status of the ancillary
  14. The Operations Supervisor is expected to work on special events which include weekend and other night
  15. Other tasks that would be deemed suitable within the

Caper Convenience:

  1. Train and supervise staff for Caper Convenience.
  2. Supervise the day-to-day operation Caper Convenience Operations.
  3. Handle inventory management including ordering and working with suppliers for Caper Convenience.
  4. Ensure maintenance is kept on all equipment/fixtures and report issues to the General Manager and the VP Finance &
  5. Responsible for store cleanliness and maintain neat and organized stock
  6. Be willing to jump on cash and assist which may happen for various reasons such as staff shortages, missed shifts, or increased traffic
  7. Report weekly to the General Manager and VP Finance and Operations on the status of the ancillary
  8. The Operations Supervisor is expected to work on special events which may include weekend and other night
  9. Other tasks that would be deemed suitable within the

Qualifications:

  1. Experience is required in retail.
  2. Serve Right Certification is required.
  3. Event operations and/or Bar entertainment experience is preferred.
  4. Must have the ability to work in a dynamic environment and understand the governance of the Students’ Union
  5. Experience with computerized cash systems and POS (Point of Sale) software
  6. Criminal record and background check required
  7. Must have an NS Driving License and a clean driver abstract.
