What you’ll be doing
The goal of CIBC’s Capital Markets business is to be the premier client-focused Capital Markets provider based in Canada. To deliver on this, the capital markets arm of CIBC provides a wide range of credit, capital markets, investment banking, merchant banking and research products and services to government, institutional, corporate and retail clients in Canada and in key markets around the world.
The CSDM Business Transformation team is responsible for managing project and change management activities encompassing all aspects of KYC/AML, regulatory compliance, data management, and enterprise initiatives, client data and account remediation initiatives primarily related to domestic and international regulatory reporting. The team conducts its activities through internal and external research and interaction with numerous stakeholders including, Salespeople & Relationship Managers, Legal Documentation, Credit, Operations teams.
As a Co-op Student reporting to the Director of CSDM Business Transformation, you will support data quality and remediation activities, business analysis, and testing processes related to Capital Markets products for Corporate and Institutional clients. Your role will involve executing tasks across multiple applications to ensure that our clients have accurate mandatory data on file to meet regulatory reporting requirements.

- You are enrolled in a post-secondary program in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics), Business, Economics or related program at the time of the work term, with a graduation date of December 2025 or later.

How you’ll succeed
- Process Execution – Execute a variety of lightly to moderately complex processes to ensure client data accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements. Analyze data for specific product types and verify information across various platforms, ensuring due diligence and governance practices are followed.
- Collaboration – Work closely with your team to deliver exceptional client service for both internal and external clients. Pay attention to detail while navigating exception processes and collaborating with teammates to resolve issues.
- Learning & Development – Absorb knowledge from team members to gain process expertise and flexibility in executing various tasks. Your ability to learn quickly will be key to supporting complex processes and ad hoc cleanup jobs.
- Data Investigation – Conduct thorough data investigations and research activities, demonstrating resourcefulness and attention to detail during data analysis and remediation efforts.
- Testing Support – Assist in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system configuration testing, and other testing activities to ensure data integrity and compliance.
- Change Management – Collaborate with Technology Partners and stakeholders to gather business requirements and support solution discussions. Participate in Agile Scrum teams to assist in sprint planning and refinement sessions.
