Campus Security Officers

Within Emergency Management & Security Services (EM&SS), CBU’s Campus Security Officers provide safety and security services to all members of the University community, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Security Services include a reporting centre, control access, centralized lost & found, security audits, presentations/education, investigations, safety planning, security patrols/presence, and emergency prevention/response.

CBU works to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all members of our community.  If you are experiencing unwanted behaviour or contact, feeling uncomfortable or unsafe for any reason we are here to assist you. You are not alone.

Additional Security Services

Safe Walk Program

Emergency Management & Security Services (EM&SS) offers a Safe Walk program to all members of the university community and visitors. The request can be made by contacting a Campus Security Officer at (902) 578-2316 and indicating where you are located.

Work Safe Program

The Work Safe Program is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you are working or studying and would like Emergency Management & Security Services (EM&SS) to check on your safety, please call a Campus Security Officer at (902) 578-2316 and indicate where you are located.

Emergency Management

Our emergency preparedness measures shall ensure a timely and appropriate response to emergencies to protect the safety of our students, faculty and staff as well as property and the environment, from any harm that may occur. Cape Breton University is committed to having the structures, plans, and resources in place for effective emergency response management by means of optimal co-operation with service providers, emergency responders and other key stakeholders.

CBU Alert is CBU’s emergency mass notification system. This important feature is available to members of the CBU community by invitation only. All staff, faculty and students will be invited to create an account within the system via their cbu email address.

Emergency Management & Security Service is available for consultation as it relates to training and education session with students, faculty, and staff.
