  • Location: Cape Breton University

2025/2026 Academic Year

Centre for Teaching & Learning, Cape Breton University (On-Campus & Remote openings)

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is hiring part-time Student Facilitators to support the delivery of online-live and dual-mode courses during the Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 semesters.

This is an excellent opportunity to build your professional communication and technical skills while working directly with CBU faculty to enhance the student learning experience. Positions typically require 5 – 10 hours per week, for a total of approximately 75 hours for the term (including paid training in late August). While some remote work is available, most positions require you to be on campus during class time.

About the Role

Student Facilitators are paired with faculty members who are teaching online-live (via MS Teams) or dual-mode (in-person and online simultaneously) classes. Facilitators play an essential support role during class sessions by:

  • Monitoring the MS Teams chat and raising student questions or technical issues in real time
  • Troubleshooting common audio/visual or connectivity problems
  • Helping to ensure that both in-person and remote students can fully participate
  • Communicating clearly and calmly with faculty and peers during live sessions
  • Creating a more connected, accessible learning environment for everyone

Who We’re Looking For

You might be an excellent fit for this role if you are:

  • A current CBU student in Fall 2025
  • A strong communicator (both written and verbal)
  • Comfortable with basic technology and willing to learn new skills
  • Calm under pressure and able to think on your feet
  • Available to attend class sessions in person on the Sydney campus (for dual mode facilitating)
  • Familiar with MS Teams (experience is an asset, but training is provided)
