First-Year Advising Centre
New students with no transfer credits must receive academic advising from an advisor in the First-Year Advising Centre before registering for courses.
The First-Year Advising Centre’s hours are as follows:
- May 1 – June 21: Mondays – Thursdays from 2-6pm
- June 26 – Aug. 30: Tuesdays – Thursdays from 9am – 4pm
Appointments last approximately 1.5 hours and include the following steps:
Step 1: Meeting with an academic advisor, where you will review your program requirements and options and select your courses.
Step 2: Meeting with our Academic Success Coach, where you can discuss your expectations, any concerns you may have, available supports, and how to best prepare for the start of classes.
Step 3: Meeting with a First-Year Advising Centre student employee, where you will learn how to create your class schedule, set up your online student account and access your CBU email, and register for classes.
*Please note that academic advising can be done by email for students who are not able to come to campus.
