The annual National Youth Track and Field Championships (The Legion Games) for youth 17 and under is the only sporting event of its kind in the country. The games will take place August 6 to 12, 2019 at the Cape Breton University campus. The national championships give young Canadians a chance to compete at a high level, develop confidence and better understand the diversity of other athletes in their sport from across Canada.

The Local Arrangement Committee (LAC) for the Royal Canadian Legion National Youth Track and Field Games is currently accepting applications for an Administrative and Event Assistant to support the local organizing committee with the planning, execution, and wrap up for the 2019 National Youth Track and Field Games.


Reporting to the Chair of the local organizing committee and the Senior Program Officer, the successful candidate will:

● Assist all committees of the local arrangement committee (LAC) in preparation of the games and welcoming of athletes

● Manage the local office for the Games

● Be responsible for all administrative duties as it relates to the 2019The Legion Games

● Serve as the main contact for local vendors and organizations in the preparation of the games

● Arrange site visits and logistics for games

● Liaise with the host facility

● Ast as the main contact for information to the public as it relates to the games

● Provide updates to LAC on progress and confirmation of logistics

● Other duties as required

Salary: $12.50/hour (37.5 hours/week)
