FALL CO-OP – Experiential Learning Co-op Student


  • Able to maintain regular office hours at our Halifax office
  • Related events, public relations, communication experience
  • Working towards degree/diploma/advanced diploma in Public Relations, Marketing or equivalent
  • Knowledge of or interest in social media, web-based technologies
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Strong research and project management skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Evening or weekend work may be required for event support


As an individual who is passionate about the growth and prosperity of Nova Scotia you will assist the Experiential Learning (EL) Project Coordinator in the development of opportunities that promotes the value of experiential learning. This co-op position will work closely with the Experiential Learning Project Coordinator in the development of a communications and marketing plan to promote Experiential Learning opportunities for College and University students and industry partners throughout the province.

The provincial Entrepreneurship and Experiential Learning Working Group are looking for someone who understands the positive impact of experiential learning and how it helps strengthen skills, deepen learning and better prepare students for the future.  The position requirements include:

  • Planning and Coordinating Events:Plan and support events that promote experiential learning across Nova Scotia: including planning and logistics, development of event collateral and social media campaigns, and on-site event support
  • Social Media:Develop and post content that would promote experiential learning activities and events through social media channels; identify engagement opportunities; and monitor and report on audience engagement
  • Media Relations:Research and develop communications, media plans, news releases, collateral, web-based communications etc.
  • Research:Conduct and report on best practices research on experiential learning and entrepreneurship activities (e.g. use of social media in university communications to current students)
  • Communications: Responsible for conducting research, collecting data, interviewing, editing, presentation support, engaging stakeholders, preparing media kits and other projects

This is a 15-week co-op position based out of NSCC Institute of Technology Campus, Halifax from September through December.
