Job/Project Description:
Investigating the ability of magnetically functionalized biochar to attract various paramagnetic compounds. The successful candidate should have completed 1 year of Chemistry at the University level as a minimum. Biochar from BioEnergy and other waste sources will be loaded with magnetic nanoparticles and tested in various applications including catalysis.
Responsibilities
Tasks: Synthesize nanoparticles
Load nanoparticles onto Biochar
Characterize Biochar
Test Biochar in catalytic applications
Responsibilities: Perform experiments safely, keep excellent lab notebooks, read appropriate literature
Student Qualifications: First year University level Chemistry

Start Date: Mid-September
End Date: Mid-April
Hours: All positions are part time, hours TBD
