CBU CO-OP ONLY – MacLean Suveying Ltd., Business Analyst


MacLean Surveying Ltd. is a professional land surveying company offering land surveying services to property owners
and potential property owners throughout Cape Breton Island. We offer our land surveying services to clients who
may be: looking to purchase a house/property, looking to divide up their existing land to split between family
members, developers trying to develop sellable building lots, contractors looking to construct buildings or roads, etc.
We are a young company, established in 2014, but have seen growth each year and are looking to build from that
growth. We are a small, tight-knit group consisting of four employees.

Job Qualifications
This position is an entry level, office position within our company. No land surveying experience is required. A
business administration background will certainly be preferred as the job will include many tasks in various areas
(accounting, payroll, human resources, marketing, social media, customer service, website maintenance, etc.). We
are looking for an individual who is self motivated, organized, and willing to learn. Training for all tasks will be
provided by employer until candidate is comfortable completing on their own.
The successful candidate must have:
– A valid Nova Scotia’s Drivers License
– Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Access)
– Good computer skills
– Good customer service skills


The position of Business Analyst consists of both daily business activities, as well as an in-depth analysis on the
company’s overall standing.
Daily business activities may consist of:
– answering phone calls – sending/replying to emails

– calculating employee time sheets – updating social media platforms

– inputting client data into spreadsheet – organizing filing system

– market research – organizing and presenting data

-Posting Daily Transactions to Accounting Software -Assisting with HST returns

The successful candidate will work within our small team, but for the most part will work independently on their own
tasks. Initial training will be provided.

Salary and Specifics
The salary for this position is $15/hr. The position is a Monday to Friday position for the period from May 7, 2018 to
August 24, 2018, with daily working hours between 9am and 5pm. The position location is in a residential office
setting. Dress is casual.
